Abiomed
(now Johnson & Johnson Heart Recovery)
A complete rebrand to keep pace with innovation
After more than 25 years as a pioneer and global leader in the design and manufacture of heart assist and replacement devices, Abiomed was in need of a complete brand overhaul. Their technology had quickly outpaced their brand promise and visual identity. Dave was brought in to oversee and execute the new brand in an all-encompassing initiative that included virtually every facet of Abiomed's business including marketing, sales, investor relations, professional education, as well as patient and clinician outreach.
While still an active client, Abiomed was acquired by Johnson & Johnson for $16.6 billion. Dave was instrumental in the brand transition from Abiomed to J&J’s newly-developed brand standards. This including developing templates and utilizing AI for asset distribution and monitoring.
“Abiomed was one of my first clients when I set out on my own back in 2005. Even now, as Johnson & Johnson, I continue to partner with them on branding and design work. It has been an amazing experience to not only be an active player in their evolution as a company, but to witness how they have stayed true to their mission of ‘recovering hearts and saving lives.’”
